SportsSwaps was created to be a fun interactive website that is very user friendly for all users. That is why navigating the SportsSwaps website is so clear and easy to do. In this blog post we will break down some of the features of SportsSwaps and how easy it is to navigate our Swaps Markets
Upon signing up with a SportsSwaps account, you will be directed to the sign in page where you will first need to verify your account through the email address you used to sign up.
After verifying your account, you will be directed to the “Swaps” page where All SportSwaps markets will be listed. Here you can find every single sport’s game, team, player and future market listed. This page can also be accessed if you click directly on the “swaps” button on the top right of the page.
In addition to clicking the “swaps” button, you can also use the dropdown to filter through which sport you want and which category you’d like to choose. Most sports have four main categories to choose from ( Game Swaps, Team Swaps, Player Swaps and Future Swaps). The categories themselves may be self explanatory, but to explain a bit further:
Game Swaps will include game centered questions like:
Who will win between the New Orleans Pelicans and the Denver Nuggets?
Will the Denver Nuggets beat the New Orleans Pelicans by Over/Under 3.5 points?
Team Swaps will include questions based on single teams only, for example:
Will the New Orleans Pelicans score Over/Under 115 points?
Will the Denver Nuggets score Over/Under 12.5 3 pointers in the game?
Player Swaps will include questions focused on individual players only:
Will Lonzo Ball have Over/Under 14.5 points in the game?
Will Lebron James have Over/Under 8.5 rebounds in the game?
Future Swaps include questions based on future propositions, example:
Who will win the 2020-2021 NBA Championship?
Who will win the 2021 NFC Championship?
When you navigate to an individual game page (let’s say NBA Game Swaps), there you will see all the live sports matches and their live scores shown above. These scores are updating constantly in real time for an improved user experience.
In addition to the live scores, there is an easy way to filter out which matches are live from which matches have not started yet. On the left side of all swaps pages there is a “live events” tab drop down and an “upcoming events” tab drop down. Located under these 2 tabs will be all events that have either started yet and are live, or those which have not.
If you would like to see Live Events or Upcoming Events for every sport at once then just click the “Live Events” or “Upcoming Events” link on the bottom under “Quick Links”
After you have placed a prediction in a market and own some shares, you can then view those shares in the “ My Shares” page. The My Shares page is located in the dropdown underneath your username.
In this section, you will be able to view all ownership in any market, as well as any open offers you may have in a given market. The My Shares page makes it easy to stay organized and on top of your trading portfolio.
Once the trading has stopped and the bets have settled, or after you have bought or sold out of a market, you will be able to view all those transactions in the History page. The History page will give you a detailed description of all shares bought and all shares sold. It will also tell you how much you’ve profited in a given market and how much you’ve lost. On the history page, you can sort previous history by 3 days, 7 days, 30 days or All time.
Before you make any prediction on SportsSwaps you will need to fund your account. The funds page on SportsSwaps makes it simple to deposit into your account and withdraw when the time is right.
All you must do to deposit is go to the “Funds” page and click the tab “Deposit Funds”. From there you will be prompted to enter a dollar amount in CAD.
Once you have entered that dollar amount and clicked submit, you will be able to select the cryptocurrency of your choosing to complete your deposit.
From there it is simple, once you have chosen your selected cryptocurrency, send the correct amount of funds to the crypto address provided at checkout. Once the funds have been sent to the address, the transaction will complete shortly. You will then see your account funded with the proper dollar $ amount.
Withdrawing is just as easy. To withdraw, enter the amount of money in CAD you would like to withdraw and also provide a valid Bitcoin address. Once that is finished hit submit
After that is completed, you will see a notification and also receive an email that the withdrawal is being processed. Please allow up to 24 hours to receive your Bitcoin payment.
On the funds page, there is also a tab for transaction history. Here you can view all prior deposits and withdrawals, as well as cancel a withdrawal if you feel you have changed your mind. Once a withdrawal has been processed it can no longer be cancelled.
For years the online gambling and online sports betting industry has been dominated by “bookmakers” looking to take your wager. This traditional and longstanding form of operation has seen its ups and downs over the years but now there is a better way to make predictions and place bets online. That way is in the form of a sports prediction market.
In a sports prediction market shares are always traded between $0.01-$0.99. The price that people are willing to either buy or sell a share, amounts to the probability the market has assigned to the outcome occurring. If the market price for a share (lets say the Los Angeles Lakers beating the Phoenix Suns) stays at $0.68, that means the probability of the Lakers beating the Suns is 68% according to the market.
If the Lakers end up beating the Suns, those holding yes shares will receive $1 per share. Those holding no shares will receive $0.
As mentioned, shares in prediction markets become binary when the outcome of the relevant event is determined. They wind up being worth 0% or 100%. However, at any point, market participants can buy/sell shares at any price between 0 and 100. The value of shares in an event fluctuates over time, as the score during an event constantly changes and shares are bought and sold. What you are willing to buy/sell at will depend on how confident you are in your prediction.
There are many reasons a sports prediction market is better than a traditional sports betting website. For one, you are not betting against “the house”. You are betting against other active live traders at agreed upon odds. This makes the odds prices far more accurate than if you were betting against the house. Nextly, because prediction markets are “exchange-traded markets” that deal in buying/selling of shares, you can literally buy or sell shares at any given moment before or during any event (live or otherwise). Think of it like having a cash out option, but better. An example would be like this:
The New York Knicks are beating the Milwaukee Bucks 22-16 in the first quarter
Even though it’s early, Trader A is feeling confident in the Knicks and decides to make a Buy Yes offer on the New York Knicks for 50 shares at .40 cents per share.
Once that offer is submitted, Trader B comes along and is interested in taking the other side of those odds. Trader B buys 50 shares of Buy No on the New York Knicks winning at .60 per share
At this point, both trader A and trader B have a vested wager in tonight’s game
Trader A currently has 50 shares x .40 = $20 invested
Trader B currently has 50 shares x .60 = $30 invested
Later on in the contest, the New York Knicks go up 84-70 in the 3rd quarter with 1:00 remaining.
Trader A decides he no longer wants to hold onto his shares until the end of the game and makes a Sell Yes offer for 50 shares at .80 cents per share (implying an 80% chance of winning).
Trader B also decides he would like to exit the trade and sells his 50 shares for $.20 cents per share.
Both Trader A and Trader B have now exited the trade.
Trader A initially had 50 shares for .40 but sold his 50 shares for .80 thus doubling his money and exiting the trade with $40 (profit of $20)
Trader B initially had 50 shares for .60 but sold his 50 shares for .20 thus initially buying in for $30 but exiting the trade with $10 (losing $20)
Trader A and Trader B did not have to sell all 50 of their shares and could’ve just sold a portion, but this is just an example showing the dynamic trading effects of a live sports prediction market.
With more traders and lots of price action, sports prediction markets can produce extremely accurate pricing odds and a one-of-a-kind exciting new way to bet the swings of a live sporting event.
The key to making money in sports prediction markets is knowing when to “buy low, and sell high!” Investors in prediction markets make money when they believe that there’s room in share prices to make money (i.e. if the likelihood that an event will occur is underpriced).
How do you do this successfully? Well, that’s the tricky part. If you believe there’s a discrepancy between the probability reflected in the share price and the actual probability of it occurring, bet on it!
What makes SportsSwaps different from every other sports betting website out there is that it allows the bettors themselves to determine fair market value and correct pricing of odds. No longer do sports bettors have to be boxed in to bet the odds provided by traditional sportsbooks. Now sports gamblers can determine their own odds and maximize their profits by buying/selling shares at any time and at any price they want!
One user of the political prediction market predictit.org said it best when he described it like this:
“It's a bummer that the FEDS continue to protect an inefficient, brick-and-mortar system. Sports prediction markets would absolutely thrive and have more correct odds than sports books currently offer. Think of a simple event like who would be the next NCAA basketball champion. The fact that bettors cannot buy low and sell high at any time before the event is ridiculous. The lack of arbitrage and true market dynamics produces a slow, inaccurate price. The moneyline tends to be pretty good and fluid, but a dynamic prediction market would offer an even more accurate odds and point spreads. Plus there would be so many fascinating prop bets that I'd love to know the odds of. Existing regulation continues to protect the Vegas sportsbooks, who want sports betting illegal. The model is ripe for disruption.”
Overall, sports prediction markets are definitely a more thrilling, exciting, profitable, and interactive way to bet on sports. With SportsSwaps, you will be able to have more freedom and fun in your betting experience then you would’ve thought imaginable prior. Give SportsSwaps a shot today and you will not be dissapointed.
With the 2020-2021 NFL season set to begin in less than one week there will be many things to look out for. Most notably are all the offseason changes that have been made and how that will affect teams in the regular season as well as in the playoffs.
Perhaps the team with the most drastic of changes and also the biggest expectations heading into the new year are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tom Brady is 43 years old and entering his 20th season in the NFL. Everyone will be watching to see if he can continue to play and win at an elite level with a new team and in a new environment. If there is one thing Tom Brady has proved however over the years, it's to never count him out because just when you think he can't win, he will prove you wrong. Another thing to look out for with Tampa Bay are the weapons Tom Brady will be surrounded with. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are two of the top wide receivers in the league and talent Tom Brady has not had in New England for years. On top of this Rob Gronkowski will be back in action as well as the new signing of running back Leonard Fournette. Any way you slice it up, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers look ready to make a deep run in this year's NFL season.
Another team to watch out for and keep your eyes on are the New England Patriots. New England still has one of the best defenses in the league and although they no longer have Tom Brady, never underestimate Bill Bellicheck and whatever tricks he has up his sleeve. The addition of Cam Newton was a great calculated pickup that will give the Patriots a quarterback who is a dual threat in the running and passing game. One thing a lot of people don't know is that Bill Bellicheck’s respect and admiration for Cam Newton’s game goes back a long way. In late 2017 Bellicheck said this about the quarterback “I think when you’re talking about mobile quarterbacks — guys that are tough to handle, can throw, run, make good decisions … — I would put him at the top of the list...not saying there aren’t a lot of other good players that do that, but I would say of all the guys we played recently in the last couple of years, I think he’s the hardest guy to (defend). He makes good decisions, can run. He’s strong. He’s hard to tackle. He can do a lot of different things. He can beat you in a lot of different ways. We saw that in the game in 2013. I would put him at the top of the list. I’m not saying the other guys aren’t a problem, because they are. But he’s maybe public enemy No. 1.” This is high praise coming from coach Bellicheck and it would seem like he knows what he's doing here. Combine that with a hungry Cam Newton who is eager to prove to the world that he is still a superstar quarterback in the league and that is why we consider the Patriots a team to watch out for.
As far as the rest of the league goes, we certainly predict that some of the top teams in the league from the 2019-2020 NFL season will continue to stay on top this year. Teams like the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, New Orleans Saints, and San Francisco 49ers will all play well, win games, and be hard teams to defeat barring any significant injuries. Look for Patrick Mahomes to continue making a name for himself and leading his team deep into the playoffs once again. Likewise, watch out for Lamar Jackson to have another dominant regular season and lead his team into the playoffs once again. Only this time we will see if they are able to have a deeper run.
Overall, we are excited for the start of the 2020-2021 NFL season and can’t wait to see what teams and players are ready to surprise the league!
With the NBA ready to resume in less than 4 weeks, there are still lots of uncertainty and questions that have yet to be answered. One of the biggest questions is what an isolated restart without fans will look like? On top of that, how will players perform without the comfort of their fans rooting them on. On the one hand, this may make games more competitive since no team has home court advantage and everyone is on an even playing field. However, on the other hand, some players may play more poorly without a crowd to perform to.
Another question yet to be answered is who has been working out and staying in shape over the last 4 months. We see disciplined players like LeBron working out and staying ready, but can the same really be said for the rest of the league? It will be interesting to see who is ready to go, and who has not been keeping in game shape.
Thirdly, 25 out of 351 players have already tested positive for Covid-19. What will happen if players are not following the leagues guidelines, and decide not to quarantine? This will surely lead to an increase in the number of positive tests, and if it starts to get out of hand Adam Silver will likely make a decision on cancelling the NBA Season for good.
Our prediction is that the season will start on July 30 and finish sometime in late September or early October. The Milwaukee Bucks are the clear favorites in the East and the Lakers are the front-runners in the West. What will be interesting to see is how the Bucks can perform in this new format, and whether they can hold off the Celtics, 76ers, and Raptors.
The Lakers recently added JR Smith and look poised to make a deep run in the playoffs. We believe the Lakers will very likely make it to the Western Conference Finals and then into the Finals. Lebron looks more focused than ever and is ready with Anthony Davis to put them over the top.
Whatever happens, we will be watching with the return on July 30th. The league has lots of fresh, exciting talent, especially in the western conference with guys like Ja Morant, Zion Williamson, and Luka Doncic. What will be most fun to watch is if any of them can break through this year and make a real statement. Stay tuned….
